Spiral Coat Development
I started off by looking at traditional Hasidic Jewish Coats and playing around with spiral patternmaking. From there I decided to cut into the lapel and turn it 30° to have the ability to use it as a hidden belt or shawl. Whereas in the beginning I was more literally inspired by hasidic jewish clothes in the end I mainly focused on the spiral construction and open spaces. The open spaces were a side outcome of the lapel that I turned.
