(- is a wordplay of Yiddish terms. „Mazza“ and „Mazel Tov“ mean combined „good luck on your paths“ and if my garments could bring that to peoples’ lives, ideal.)
Concept
I created a collection that has an unique asthetic, and I used Therabands as a design method to support an aligned posture. Therabands are elastic straps that reflect irregular movement patterns providing support for alignment through physical resistance within movement therapy.
Ergonomic tailoring is created through spiral patternmaking which provides a greater range of motion in the garments. I considered the seamlines, the negative space, and the silhouettes as they relate to the structure of our bodies. My design process is inspired by the initiatives of Bauhaus which took ordinary objects and elevated their aesthetic value while improving their function.
